....and I'm stuck downtown in a rehearsal that isn't over until 10:00. Roads should be fabulous by then. Really, though, the worst spots are the bridges. The ground is too warm for anything to stick. Still, my drive home should be interesting nonetheless......

Just take it VERY SLOW on the overpasses/bridges. The good news: there shouldn't be a lot of traffic.

I've only got Town Lake to cross. Then I'm taking Lamar all the way home. No overpasses or bridges on that route. It will be slow, but it should be safe. I'm sure there will still be more than a few yahoos out there, though.

Go over at Congress. Trust me, I've done the "driving into/out of downtown Austin during an ice over" thing a few times. The lanes are wide enough that you could slide a bit if shit goes south and not hit the side.

Thanks for the tip. I'm at The Long Center, which is at S. 1st. But Congress is just a block east. I've already ruled out crossing on Lamar. That bridge is dangerous in normal conditions. That's assuming, of course, that the bridges aren't closed!

Watch the bridges. It's below zero already. Drive safe

Thanks. Just got home. Surface streets are wet, but not icy. I stayed off the highways. Biggest problem was my windshield, which iced up a bit. Late start for the boys school tomorrow. I can use a little extra sleep, except that the boys will be up at 6 to see if it snowed.
